Does Cook MyoSite Laboratory Research Services offer immortalized cell lines?
We do not offer cell lines in the traditional sense of clonal expansion or spontaneous immortalization. Instead, our cell samples consist of primary human muscle derived cells that have finite expansion capabilities. Each vial is filled at 500,000 cells, with a provided Certificate of Analysis (COA) indicating the percentage of viable cells. These cells can be expanded until they reach senescence. The number of expansions may vary between different lots, but typically, from a single vial, you can expect 8 to 12 doublings. In some cases, if flask confluence is maintained as per our Instructions for Use (IFU) specifications, you may even achieve more doublings.
Typically, we are unable to grant permission for the immortalization of our cell samples in order to create a cell line. However, we do not impose any restrictions if you are utilizing a reporter gene to observe the activation of a specific gene or to identify injected cells. We may have additional information to share on certain cell lots or various assays we have performed in our development work. If you can provide us with more details about your objective, we would be happy to assist you further.
